As the end of summer descends upon all of us in Hudson County and beyond, it’s the perfect time to bask in the warmth and make the most of it before the cooler breeze starts to sweep in. Homeowners in this picturesque region have the unique advantage of outdoor spaces that can be transformed into a personal oasis. In this blog, we’ll explore ways to celebrate the summer so far and savor the remaining days while preparing for the approaching new season.
Revitalize Your Outdoor Space:
a. Create a Serene Retreat: Turn your backyard or patio into a tranquil sanctuary where you can unwind and savor the fleeting summer days. Add comfortable seating, outdoor rugs, and accent lighting to create a welcoming ambiance for relaxation and socializing.
b. Embrace Gardening: September provides an opportunity to tend to your garden and bring it to its peak. Add pops of color with seasonal flowers, grow herbs and vegetables, and maintain your landscape to enjoy its beauty throughout the year.
c. Host Memorable Gatherings: Invite friends and family over for delightful outdoor gatherings. Organize barbecues, picnics, or evening gatherings around a fire pit to create lasting memories in your outdoor haven.

Engage in Local Summer Activities:
a. Explore Nature Trails: Hudson County is blessed with natural beauty. Take advantage of the warm days to explore local nature trails, parks, and reserves. Whether hiking, biking, or strolling, these scenic spots offer a perfect escape.
b. Visit Local Beaches: With the Jersey Shore within reach, plan a day trip to the sandy shores for sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing. Enjoy the tranquil rhythm of the ocean and embrace the true essence of summer. My favorite and one of the closets, Sandy Hook!
c. Attend Community Events: Keep an eye out for local festivals, fairs, and outdoor concerts happening in September. Engaging in community events not only fosters a sense of togetherness but also offers a chance to make the most of the summer festivities.
Just to give you an example, on September 9th, The All About Downtown Street Fair in Downtown Jersey City will be featuring vendors selling everything from handmade candles and jewelry to local businesses promoting their services and wares. The Fair also has kid’s rides and face painting, beer gardens, and live music throughout the day!

Prepare for the Transition:
a. Plan Outdoor Improvements: As summer draws to a close, consider making any necessary outdoor home improvements. This could include checking for repairs, repainting, or upgrading your outdoor living space to continue enjoying it as temperatures cool down.
b. Embrace Autumn Decor: While relishing the summer, start envisioning the cozy fall season. Consider adding autumn-themed decor to your outdoor space to effortlessly transition into the new season’s warmth and charm.
c. Schedule Home Maintenance: Take advantage of the remaining warm days to perform routine home maintenance tasks. Inspect your HVAC system, clean gutters, and ensure your home is well-prepared for the approaching fall and winter.
September in Hudson County brings both the joy of summer and the anticipation of fall. Homeowners can cherish the outdoor spaces that the region offers by transforming them into havens of relaxation and enjoyment. Whether savoring the local natural beauty or engaging in community events, this is the time to celebrate the radiant summer while making thoughtful preparations for the upcoming new season. Embrace the season’s unique offerings and create lasting memories in your home, appreciating each moment as we transition gracefully into the next chapter of the year.
